In 2016 @therealmrmule and @ltulipa ‘borrowed’ the family teddy to take on a trip around Europe. Like the gnome from the film ‘Amelie’ they posted picture postcards on Instagram much to the surprise of the family. When they started to travel full time in 2018 they decided to start the @abearcalledpaddington account dedicated to travel but through the eyes of a small curious bear. Four years later they have travelled through Europe, the Balkans, Asia, the Americas, back to Europe and now South East Asia.

the abearcalledpaddington account learns about different cultures, different foods and the beautiful destinations he finds along the way.

“If we are kind and polite, the world will be right”

is a quote the account lives by. It is respectful, non denominational, non political but eager to learn about the world. Pictures are taken from his perspective, which can be quite entertaining for passers-by who often ask what is happening and why is the bear having his photo taken. We explain ‘It’s for Instagram’ and show them the account which is greeted with great smiles and interest in the pictures and stories

We travel to learn, with open minds and open hearts, often in places less visited but also to those famous sights for the ‘gram.

They have met many people around the world. Sometimes they are shown what local life is like and are given a unique perspective of the country or city. Many times other ‘plushie’ accounts want to met up for a photo opportunity and meet the people behind the account.

The ‘plushie’ community is very large and active, wether raising money for charity or promoting sustainable actions like beach cleanups or single use plastics awareness.

We describe ourselves as ‘assistants’. We help Paddington with travel, photos and stories, and all the comments he receives. It’s like a full time job. We can spent up to 4 or 5 hours each day taking and editing photos, writing content and replying to comments.

We have also worked with Paddington & Co Ltd and their PR company Carousel Ltd to create social media content, videos, stories and more.
